Hey Sarah, what do you charge for this guidance? I would like to talk to you

If you click on the link, you'll see the pricing structure (it's in the grey box area on the left of the calendar). I would recommend booking a 3-pack though if you're interested. I didn't at first, but quickly realized 30 minutes wasn't going to be enough time. The other option if budget is an issue is to become a paid Subscriber. The access to all her workshops provide a tremendous amount of information to get you started or to hone in on what you've built already. That is also a great value.

Here are all the details. Email me if it feels like something you can’t afford. I have an idea. https://www.writersatwork.net/p/creating-a-substack

The “Four Substack Emotions”. Haha love it! I’d add “Metric Melange” for when you feel both happy for and envious of a newsletter peer who outperforms you.

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

I have metric melange quite frequently.

We have to! There’s no competition on here. That’s what I love about it.

Hey Sarah. I just want to say thank you. I've been on substack since July of 2022, but this will be the first year I'm laser focused on growing my subscribers and writing/posting consistently. I hadn't really felt a sense of community here until I joined your chat yesterday and got so much positive feedback from other writers (and you!) and it felt so affirming, just what I needed. I even gained one paid subscriber through the experience who sent me a blurb to use in future appeals! Just know that your work is reaching lots of other creators in incredibly positive ways and you are deeply appreciated.

Amazing post, I very much related to points 6 and 7. I highly agree on the part of emotional management (point 6) and preferring quality over quantity, posting less frequent but higher quality content that will truly speak to the ideal reader.

This is such a grounding and encouraging read. I really appreciate how you speak to the emotional rollercoaster of being on Substack—it’s refreshing and reassuring to know those ups and downs are part of the process. The reminder to define your own version of success and focus on quality over quantity hit home for me. Thank you for sharing your wisdom so generously—it genuinely feels like a pep talk and a strategy session all in one.

Do you still do 1-to1??
