I have been doing my best on Substack for almost 2 years and I continue to struggle with figuring out my DNA. Honestly, I think this is my main problem right now. I have done all the exercises, journaling, brainstorming, contemplating, etc. to try to find the key. I have written and re-written my goals/mission multiple times. Still, I always return to confusion.
My hunch is that what I want to do and what I think will work are two different things. I keep trying to find the middle road but so far, I take wrong turns and end out in the weeds.
I think I need a Substack therapist, someone who specializes in Substack EMDR to help me shake my ghosts and get more clarity!!
Thank you SO much for this Sarah!!! I've been working on this for a few weeks and this checklist just gave me so confidence to keep moving forward. I can't wait to relaunch my Substack for moms! Motherhood needs some new PR and I'm so excited about building this new little corner of the internet.
Full disclosure: I bookmarked this so I could read it later, but I’m pretty sure, without even reading it, that I probably broke all these rules. Thankfully, for whatever it’s worth, at least here on Substack, I don’t feel punished for it. I look forward to reading this later.
Thanks Sarah! It’s taken me over a year of hanging out here, but I finally feel like I understand my Substack’s core DNA. I love how you position this time as a strength, not a failure. I’ve updated my About page, and now I can work through your checklist to launch. Wheeee! 🤸🤸🤸
Thank you - when will the course in Nov. be? I am just starting to go through your posts and trying to find a strategy for what I want my Substack to be. Still in the lost/overwhelm stage. I know I will need to relaunch at some point. I also think I will need to hire a VA to. help with the logistics of my Substack, so need to look for that.
Hello. I am new here kind of. Of been kicking things around on medium and then came over here. I really dont have any traction on anyhting. Maybe because my writing just sucks. But I kind of relaunched everything. I am in a major life reboot and just started sharing what I am learning. Because of you (my first paid subscription) I did my first video. I also participated in your notes. No one liked it or restacked it but I responded to others and it started to give me a little push. I just wanted to let you know...thank you. I am planning on how to go 1-1 so i can hone these skills. Not sure how yet. Sub stack is a little hard to get around on for me. But you are teaching me so much. You rock!!!!

Thank you so much for this Sarah. This came at the best possible timing for me, trying my own 'relaunch'!
I started writing Late 2023. No idea what I was doing.
Then rebranded and relaunched at summer 2024 ~ around 7-8 months or so. Did it without a single email.
Nice to learn something new every time. A good read.

Should we restack such notes?
