I'll be pre-ordering your book, Mason, and thanks Sarah for such a timely interview. I love the "go analog" portion, because Mason, your process mirrors mine quite a bit! I learned how to do this in grad school, where I printed off peer-reviewed articles, then highlighted sentences or phrases, and then I'd write direct quotes or paraphrases on 3x5 cards (with references in the corner). Afterwards, I'd fan the cards and look for commonalities--themes, key words, etc--that I could incorporate into sub-topics for my article or essay. I love that people still do this today!
Yes! I "waste" so much paper in my writing, printing things and scribbling all over them, and typing up my scribbles and doing it all over again — but when everything is on the screen it's just not "live" for me in the same way; I don't feel as able to to process it and react to it, somehow, and mold it into something new... Anyway, thanks for the kind note — and hope you enjoy the new book!

Just ordered it, Mason! Looking forward to it. The title alone gripped me.
I hope we get more and more analog as writing grows more and more AI-digital.
