I'm excited about starting some regular Lean Plate Club chats with experts that I used to interview frequently while at the Washington Post. They're smart and always have interesting new things to share about healthy eating and moving more. What else, you ask? I'm excited about launching the Two Step Family podcast and newsletter with my stepson, Ian, to mark National Stepfamily Day on Sept. 12.
Excited to be launching my new Substack this week: Letters to Dead Authors & Artists. Kicking it off with a letter and Substack Live with @Beth Spencer! (I’m open for pitches!)
Thank you so much! You subscribed to my original Substack, The Habit of Art, but I want to be clear that I was referencing a NEW Substack, that has its own site: https://letterstodeadartists.substack.com/
I’m on fire – moving my Rumpus column over to my Substack has been exciting and I can’t wait for the debut issue to drop later this month for national recovery month. I also started a section in my biweekly post Reads On Fire - look for that to grow into some pretty cool offerings.
Oh that cats! Hope alll’s ok over there Sarah. My kids are back to school this week so I’m looking forward to podcasting a summer’s worth of thoughts. After I stare into space a while of course! ✨✨
I’m excited to be away in France for 7 months, in a sort of archeological dig for my creative self which has been covered and lost to me due to painful obligations. Trying to figure out how to share the incremental return to chez Natalie.
Just to note, if you reside in France and, as a creative writer, you earn income online under the artiste-auteur régime, using Substack as described under "Monthly Premier Call" moves you clearly to the micro-entrepeneur scheme; it makes a difference financially. "Using your Substack to create other revenue streams, including courses, memberships, 1:1s, single contributions (Buy me a coffee et al.), book sales, speaking engagements, and more."
I’ll be hosting a Substack Live on Friday, Sept 19 at 2pm EST (and likely another on Sept 12 at the same time) to talk about my nonfiction book The Wellbeing Equation. It’s a framework that shows how our mind, body, and spirit can work together through health and wellness factors such as sleep, movement, nourishment, self-reflection, and connection. Each of us has a unique ‘equation,’ like a fingerprint, that supports healing, helps us find greater meaning, and opens paths toward healthier ways of living.
I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share more in this format, and would love feedback as I keep shaping how I talk about the book and the concept.
On the professional side, I’ll also be continuing conversations this month with a potential agent who has my manuscript. I’m hoping he’ll decide to represent me, and thus if anyone knows of a good agent working in the self-help space, I’d be open to a referral to someone you know personally or have worked with.
I'm relaunching my coaching course, "Intentional Eating: Finding Peace and Balance in Your Relationship with Food" and including my book of the same title. I have been writing about the topic for awhile, how our mindset and dysregulation cause us to eat emotionally. I use ideas from yogic philosophy and brain science to help people understand themselves and their eating habits better to have more control over their own behaviors.
I got a real job, so all proceeds from my Substack are going to an awesome Native-led ecological restoration organization near me. And I'm doing some scientific and spiritual research on black holes that I think will be mind blowing (at least for me, hopefully for others) And someone I really admire agreed to be interviewed about their new book.
I'm excited for fall--partly because it's fall and partly because it means winter is coming. I'm struggling to get going after slowing down over the summer. Once I'm back in the saddle, I'll know more what specifically excites me about my newsletter!
Very excited about our fall issue coming out around the start of the season. We create quarterly print issues then run the content on Substack weekly. It works out to be JUST the right amount of stories to spread across 3 months of weekly content. I'm actually editing it to get it ready for printing today!

So great. I didn't know you were at the Washington Post. I did know, but I forgot.

WOW. Love this idea. Subscribing now!

Feel free to pitch a letter sometime!
Oh thanks for clearing that up - sorry about that. I'll check this one out now, too.
No problem! I appreciated your enthusiasm! :) (And no pressure to subscribe to both!)

I’m in a soft launch for my WanderRx Substack. I have so much to learn from this group and Sarah!
I'm sorry to hear about Baby Theo and Sweets. Hope they're both on the mend!
I’m excited about streamlining with live interviews this month.
I hope Baby Theo and Mr. Sweets are feeling better soon.

I'm excited for the new beginnings energy too so I'm starting a new series called 'Soulful Metamorphosis' and I can't wait! 🧡🦋
