As a swiftie, couldn’t agree more. Taylor is pure inspiration for more than one generation of women. She makes people happy, belonging and empowered. She deserves every dollar on her account. 🤷🏻‍♀️✨🩷 The only billionaire I respect 🤭

Amazing post, great tips. Some of these I’ve thought before but this is the validation I need to take action

Sarah, I loved the cat shout out. Truth! But seriously, her love for the feline furries (also genuine) IS part of what makes her relatable and lovable. And that you wrote about it —and how—is what makes you the same! (And a skilled teacher. Double instruction!) Seriously, this as an example of “ethos” in classical rhetoric!

OK, Taylor Swift is also a tiny bit more beautiful than me. But I'll never have as many fans as the singer because I love my dog – and not cats ;-)

#2 is golden! I wish more contributors in Substack just wrote rather than updating us on their follower count in every note and post.

#5 Love ❤️ Your Substack is great. Something we should know and do inherently, but seeing it written out is like an “Ahhh” moment for me.

My Substack is still pretty small- 240ish, with 4 paid, I think, and I’ve noticed something interesting. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar…

I’ve tried surveys and in-post questions and rarely get any feedback. Rarely any comments either. However, I will get an email, Instagram message, or person telling me in person how much they love the blog.

Now mine is a very specific topic- practical triathlon and mindset skills from an athlete perspective. (Think Ironman) So I get runners and all kinds of athletes as well.

Long story short, I’m trying to figure out what people enjoy reading most (writing for them not for me) but they won’t tell me! 😂 I’ve examined metrics for popular posts so have a fairly good idea which are better-performing, but not enough insight to tell what they will pay for.

FYI, have a (Club) model where most of my posts are free, then I have paid for bonus in depth content, exclusive discounts, monthly video meeting with experts. I’m thinking about a worksheet, e-book, more “physical product.”

Thoughts?

You provide some sound safe advice here. Be creative but treat it like a business.

I’m fairly new to Substack but it seems the lessons learned on LinkedIn over the past couple of years will transfer here quite well. I’m considering a paid news letter to augment my consulting business. Substack looks like it could be the ticket for that.

The notes feature is a bonus.

#4 wow. Just wow. I tuned into TS this last year more and have been blown away by her marketing genius, her commitment to give back and the flack she gets. I lived in Tennessee for a while and guess I made friends with somebody on Facebook that went to high school with her. I don’t think he knew her directly, but man was he eager when I posted something about how much Taylor gave back to each city she played in versus what Trump and people like him do. He was eager to speak negatively about her. But she just keeps on trucking and keeps on being who she is.

She is an inspiration in so many ways

I think I'm the only one who could not care less for Taylor Swift. She's a powerhouse on how to market herself, but other than that, does nothing for me.

I was just with a small circle of writer friends last night, and I said that one of my main goals by the end of this year is to figure out if I’m writing for an audience or writing for myself. Well, this post certainly tipped the balance for me! I’m figuring this goal out!
