VERY SMART!!

I feel a ripple of excitement up every time I see your byline anywhere, E. Jean. And not only because you sued the rapist and won. Also because back in the day, I was your editor at Playboy. Those were the days...

Peter: You were an editor at Playboy?

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

E. Jean! So amazing to see you here. My hero.

Marla Grant's avatar

Pretty sure you are every woman's hero! I salute your courage.

Jean, did you ever get paid from Trump for the law suit you won ? He is a such a skunk of an individual that thinks he can get away with anything. I think that he and his family deserve to be put in one of his “concentration camps” where he is confining so many immigrants. I’m sure the immigrants would love that. Have a great day!

Thank you Sarah, I am LOVING these dispatches and have used the ‘save’ button with both so far! Think I’m going to be referring to these over and again as I get my head around Substack.

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

Yay! You just made my whole, whole month, Nicola. Thank you.

I was listening to your latest podcast today and you mentioned someone who does amazing things with notes but I couldn’t catch his name Dakar or something?

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

Darshak Rana. Excellent Notes!

I'm suddenly confused about the difference between sending an email and sending an article/post. You mentioned this distinction in your recap suggestion. Would you be willing to elaborate?

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

Of course!

A post/article goes out to your subscribers and appears on the web.

Your emails go out as emails and do not appear on your webpage.

When we send a post, it goes out to our subscribers based on whether they've asked to be notified by email, in the app, or both. This gets tricky because if I’ve opted to receive your email in the app, I’m very likely missing a lot of it.

You can email your subscribers without posting, in which case the email will go to everyone, even if they’ve opted for the app.

You got me again, Sarah. Signed up for the Business Intensive.

I'm so glad! I saw that, Zeest! See you there!

So helpful! And...does anyone know where the Notes Boost is living these days? Thankyou!

Marla Grant's avatar

Yes, this question please

Marla Grant's avatar

Diane, I found it - I love a challenge ;-) Here is the link.

Do you use What's App? If you do, did you know that you have your very own inbox of sorts to send thins to yourself? Any time I see an article or I have a URL I want to save, I send it to myself there. Hope this helps

You know, your substack could really use a logo. Or better yet, four logos, and your readers could vote for their favorite. Why don't you look into that?

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

We're doing more than logos. We're creating merch. Where are we on that, Peter?

Peter Moore's avatar

I think I’m waiting for you to tell me when we’ll launch! I think you have the four images you need, with the correct logos. LMK if you need me to resend the full batch.

Helpful information..thank you.

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

I'm so glad!

This was all so helpful, Sarah! Thank you!

Would be curious to know how her open rates changed after she went viral. Seems like events like that tend to cause pretty substantial declines, due to triggering ESPs to view the uptick in sends as spam.

Sarah Fay, PhD's avatar

They've stayed completely steady and engagement is way up. That's what I meant by it being real growth.

We looked into open rates and engagement, and everything is solid.

That's why I believe it has way more to do with the quality of her writing going up and having these familiar structures that readers get hooked on instead of some silly trick.

I thought you could only pin one post on your home page? Are you saying the top performers? How? Thanks, Blue💙

Two things. I had no idea what ICYMI meant, but AI told me. "In case you missed it." 2) I've been told before (maybe by you along the line) not to include what someone could look up on Google or AI, i.e., "What experts say." Is this old/bad advice now? I'm asking because this might work for me, although I've tried to eliminate that stuff from my posts. Would love to hear more on this, Sarah. Blue💙

Wow, Sarah, this was so helpful, especially about the monthly recap. I hadn't thought of that!

Great advice as always, thank you!💛🌻
