Loved this. It made me 'relax' and think about what I love to share with people most and it reminded me it's all about quality of connecting with my readers over quantity. Thank you!

Hmm, Petra, how do you interact with 7500 followers when you're dream is to find our people and have conversations? You wouldn't have time to write, would you?

Such a lovely conversation to listen to!

I’m brand new to the community, and what an episode to start with!! As I listened I realized that what I thought I wanted to write about, is not really scratching the itch. I’m a spiritual director and have been trying to write to/for people in Christian ministry. But where my brain keeps going instead is these everyday and unexpected places that intersect with our spirituality (like, how does our money impact us spiritually?). Also, I want to find the nerds who want to read the Christian mystics with me. So already, I have more clarity on what my Substack’s DNA wants to be, not what I’m trying to force it to be.

Thanks for sharing. Not the standard Substack story.

How do they monetize?

I appreciate this conversation and especially what Emma has to share. I've published a book and need to build my platform, too. But, I don't necessarily want to keep talking about the same things that are in my book. I've been struggling to figure out how to show up and just write from my heart, and from what is currently happening in my life. Hearing this conversation has given me some wiggle room.

Thank you all - it really helped to hear form both of your guests who are "writing" rather than offering workshops or services etc...as I know this is really not my thing and it worried me that without this I would never earn anything. The paid subscriber thing worries me as I do need an income - yet I do not want this to be my passion and the uniqueness. I am now wondering whether to go down to one post a month the the one month then the practice? any way thank you again

Such a fantastic conversation! I love these honest stories of rebranding and taking the time to find your authentic voice on Substack. You three are an inspiration to us all!

This was so helpful. It went along with everything that is inside my head. So many good and relevant points. I'm so glad I'm taking the time to be me, to find me, to enjoy me, to be happy with what I'm offering and sharing here. I've gone back and forth so many times. I started making updates this month, but still felt like "Is this really what I want to say and do?". I realized from watching this, I don't have to conform to or "follow the hype". This helped me to put the final thoughts on my Substack (again 😅). Thanks, Sara, Emma, Petya! 💪💖

Such a warm and inspiring hour spent with 3 incredible humans, and quite a few take-aways. Thank you Sarah, Emma and Patya.

Thank you Sarah, Emma, and Petya. Something so oddly satisfying listening to Substackers of various sizes talk about their craft. My takeaway - follow the energy and it’s not work, and keep reading other writers.
